Microblading is considered permanent makeup/body art/tattooing from a legal standpoint. Because of this, it’s governed by the same laws and regulations tattoo shops and artists are subject to (in most cases).
Body art is regulated by state authorities in the first level. The state decides how is this activity managed first and foremost. Sometimes the state decides to regulate establishments only, sometimes artists only, sometimes both.

Some states are very light in their requirements and some are very strict to the point of asking for hours of class (i.e. Arkansas requires 1,500 hours of class by a state approved education provider, this is for a tattoo license, before learning any microblading).

In many cases too, states decide to delegate the regulation of body art practices to local health departments. And again, there is no clear procedure here, health department might decide to regulate facilities, but not artists and vice versa, sometimes both.

If you’re looking to open your own facility it’s important that you inform yourself on their requirements and processes for licensing facilities for both state and local authorities. Or if you’re looking to work in someone else’s facility then worry about body art practitioner’s permit/license requirements.

Once the important aspects of your plan are defined, the next step is to acquire the needed skills to make your plan a reality.
Many people are intimidated with microblading, they believe you’ve got to be
creative, or a drawing talent to do it successfully. The reality is that you don’t
need to be special to succeed at it, you just need:

1) Proper guidance

Be taught by people who truly care about your journey and your success. A
proper training course is elemental in your endeavor of becoming a microblading artist. The company you choose should have a great study plan and a great certification program to ensure you develop the needed skills. Also, the provider you choose should have a system to continuously support you in your learning process (2 days will not do, our students take 4-6 weeks on average from zero to first successful treatment).

2) Determination to succeed The reality is that you need drive to pull this off, someone who is not driven will not succeed because it’s simply not something easy. If it was, there would be no money in it, think about that! There has to be a motivation behind your intention to learn this skill no matter what.

3) Hard work Microblading is hard work, at least in the beginning. Don’t think you will train for a little and become great at it. To become great at microblading you need hours of practice, of constant improvement in yourself and your technique and never giving up.
